Lady of the Wild Woods

Spotted Jewelweed

Nature’s Poison Ivy Treatment

I found this beauty growing around Dorr’s Pond in Manchester, NH.  Fall wildflowers are so sweet, and Some wildflowers are still blooming in the early fall. This is spotted jewelweed and a welcome sight! Poison ivy flourishes in many parts of the woods here in New Hampshire.  Jewelweed is a natural remedy against the nasty rash resulting from contact with poison ivy leaves.  Often you will find jewelweed growing close to poison ivy, so the cure is nearby! Nature is amazing! Jewelweed will counteract the effect of the rash-inducing fluids from the poison ivy leaves.  If you accidentally come into contact with poison ivy, you can simply take some juice from jewelweed stem and rub it over the affected area.
